If it didn't snow today we would've been home by now. But we're not. Dad's getting antsy and ready to be home.
I'm feeling really good. Minimal pain, so I've just been lying around. Can't imagine tomorrow will be all that comfortable sitting on a plane but I'm ready for home. But since I feel so good, I'm not too worried.
I discovered the greatest invention yesterday. I had my surgery out at a satellite surgery clinic about 10 miles from the main hospital. I got changed into my gown. But this gown wasn't cotton. It was sort of heavy and papery. But it wrapped around like all gowns should be and covered everything up without worrying about being exposed, like I was when I was in the hospital.
And it had little flaps where the heart monitor wires could go without tearing off the gown. And then It had a couple flaps i wasn't sure what they were. Fast forward til I'm out of surgery. The nurse asks me if I'm cold and i said yes. She hooks this hose to one of the mysterious flaps and then turns on heat. It was wonderful. A heated gown. I did not want to leave. Every hospital NEEDS to get these things!

Its aunt annies fault...
I got screwed by aunt annies pretzels. Yesterday me and dad flew into Baltimore for a connection. As we walked to our next gate, we passed a million aunt annies pretzels stands. Now I love aunt annies but I haven't really been eating great, just the basics so aunt annies was not on my radar....especially at 10am. So we get to our gate and directly across from us is aunt annies. We sit around for a while and as I go to the restroom and debate about getting a pretzel. And decide no. But after sitting down, dad suggests getting a pretzel so I cave in. It's fate I guess.
After only eating 1/2 of it I decided I really didn't want it. Oh well.
So fastforward to Cleveland clinic in the dr's office. After exam the dr decides she wants to go into surgery. And asks, "have u eaten anything today?". I confess to the 1/2 pretzel. Her response, "oh shoot, if u didn't eat anything i couldve taken u into surgery today (Wednesday)." Which translates into being able to fly home on Thursday. But that darn pretzel prevents this! The pretzel I didn't even want! And even worse, surgery on thursday is in a satellite surgical center so we're taking a cab over. And to make matter even worse, with surgery on thursday, we were cleared to fly home on Friday. But there's a blizzard coming to Cleveland! So now we're stuck here until Saturday...all because of that stupid pretzel.

Feels like I was just here...oh wait, I was!
Made it out to Cleveland fine. Had appt the dr already. She took a look, was pretty happy with the the healing of her surgical repair, thinks everything looks good. She saw right away what the problem is...long story short, there is infection present however she thinks it is relatively minor at this stage. Definitely a concern, but manageable. But there a problem with the old surgery incision area, due to the scar tissue. So she wants to take a look under anesthesia tomorrow but hopefully she won't have to do too much. Surgery is at 2 and the plan is to fly home on Friday.

Coming home soon
The good news is that I'm not in the hospital anymore. Got out yesterday, and spent last night here at the hotel. The night went well, the pain not too bad.
This morning I had a visit to the dr. She wanted to check on the surgical site and go over future instructions--what to do and not do. She's very happy with how I'm healing, how the surgery went. So that all good.
The bad news is that the current snow storm is delaying my trip home to Boston. There's not much in terms any real snow here, but they're expecting alot of freezing rain I guess. But we're getting nothing like what Boston is. So the plan is to return to Boston Thursday @ 3:25pm flight. Arrive in boston 5pm. Hope no delays for that trip.
So all is going well here!

I'm free!
I'm getting released today! The doctor came in this morning and thinks I'm doing good enough to be released today. The surgical site looks good and I'm feeling good.
I have an appointment with her tomorrow morning for another check and then I'm free to return to boston....whenever we can make it back with the storms that are coming in.
